Nando’s ask Suarez, “Still Hungry?”

If you have read my blog before, you will know that I absolutely love it when brands/agencies react quickly to current “hot topic” situations. I’ve blogged previously about the Specsavers advert about the “ball boy” incident and Virgin Holiday’s super quick reaction with an advert about the same sex marriage bill.

The most recent hot topic (especially within football) has been when Liverpool striker Luis Suarez bit Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic mid game on Sunday. This drove massive amounts of conversation online, and restaurant chain Nando’s Malaysia knew they had to get in on this. Only 6 hours after the event occurred, Nando’s Malaysia released an ad onto their Facebook that was witty and aimed to make fun of the controversial incident. The picture has been shared over 1,000 times from the Facebook page itself but the main conversation about the ad has been taken to Twitter- gaining great PR coverage. I think the PR initiative is hilarious “you’ll never bite alone” (a joke of the Liverpool anthem “You’ll Never Walk Alone”) and very clever so close to the event itself!
